What a nude cruise actually costs

Most pages answering this question don't. They say "prices vary" and hand you a contact form.

Here are the actual numbers, where they come from, and the three costs that don't appear in any headline fare.

The short answer

For an 11-night naturist cruise, budget $2,900 to $4,200 per person all in, at the affordable end. A couple in an inside cabin should expect somewhere near $6,000 to $8,000 total.

For a shorter lifestyle sailing of four to six nights, budget $1,200 to $2,500 per person.

Now the detail.

Big Nude Boat 2027: a full budget

Realistic all-in for one person in an entry-level cabin: $3,700 to $5,400.

What's included in the fare

Accommodation, all main dining, buffet, room service where offered, entertainment, and non-alcoholic basics like coffee, tea, water and juice.

What isn't

Alcohol. Soft drinks and bottled water. Specialty restaurants. Shore excursions. Spa. Wi-fi. Photos. And the port taxes and gratuities above, which are genuinely mandatory rather than merely expected.

Bare Necessities notes that some of its smaller sailing-yacht charters do include alcohol and extra amenities. Those are a different product at a different price point, sold to a few dozen passengers rather than a few thousand.

Lifestyle sailings cost less per night

Temptation lists its October 2026 Caribbean sailing from $200 per person per night and its October 2027 sailing from $185, both from Miami, with an unlimited open bar included in the fare.

That inclusion matters more than it looks. On a naturist sailing where drinks are extra, a fortnight of moderate drinking adds several hundred dollars per person. Compare like for like before assuming one is cheaper.

Bliss sailings run from four to seven nights. Fares aren't published openly on their site at the time of writing, which is normal for this operator.

Three ways to pay less

Book absurdly early. Bare Necessities ran early-bird codes on the 2027 Big Nude Boat worth $400 to $1,000 off depending on cabin category, more than a year before departure. Suites got the biggest discount. This is the single largest lever available and it costs nothing but committing sooner.

Take an inside cabin. You will be on this ship to be somewhere other than your room. The gap between an inside cabin and a balcony can run to four figures per person.

Sail shorter. An 11-night sailing is a serious commitment for a first trip. A four-night lifestyle cruise, or a shorter naturist charter, tells you whether this is for you at a fraction of the outlay.

The solo traveller problem

Cabin fares are quoted per person based on double occupancy. Sailing alone means paying both halves. On an entry-level Big Nude Boat cabin that turns roughly $2,000 into roughly $4,000 before taxes.

Bare Necessities will help match you with a cabin-mate. Both parties sign a roommate agreement, and there is no option to move cabins mid-voyage, so treat the match seriously. They also won't match you with someone of the opposite sex.

If solo pricing is the barrier, ask about it directly before you rule the trip out.

Why travel insurance is not optional here

Read the Bare Necessities cancellation policy carefully:

"Cancellations will NOT result in the refunding of any monies previously paid... Any funds paid for cruise are NON-REFUNDABLE for any reason other than the willful misconduct or gross negligence of Bare Necessities Tour & Travel Co., Inc."

That is unusually firm even by charter standards. If you cancel for illness, work, family emergency or anything else, the money is gone unless you insured it.

There is one alternative: once a cabin is paid in full you can transfer it to someone else for a $100 per person fee. That's a real escape hatch, but it requires finding a buyer for a nude cruise cabin on short notice, which is a narrower market than it sounds.

Common questions

Why is there no price list on the operator sites? Bare Necessities publishes a pricing table, though as an image rather than text. Bliss and Desire generally quote through their booking systems. This is standard practice for charters and not a red flag, but it does mean you cannot easily compare without contacting each one.

Do prices drop closer to sailing? Rarely, and betting on it is risky. Bare Necessities operates a best-price guarantee that automatically applies any later discount you become eligible for, which removes most of the incentive to wait. Cabins sell out.

Are these more expensive than a normal cruise? Per night, yes, somewhat. You're paying for a whole-ship charter with a fraction of a mainstream line's economies of scale. The gap is smaller than most people expect.

Can I use a travel agent? Yes, and specialist agencies sell these routinely. It generally costs you nothing extra since they're paid commission by the operator. A good one is useful for cabin selection and solo matching.
